How do I transfer the Video clips from my Digital Video Camera to my Computer? - camera computer bag hiking

I have the raw material of a film, I was invited to edit two bands. I tried to put the digital camera, I have at home (A Panasonic NV-GS35EB) and connect the camera to my laptop via USB, but I can not access photos on the memory card from the camera instead of the stored videos from the bands. Could someone please try to show me where I done something wrong?
(Well, I did edit this film 20 minutes before mid-January, when not to handle pockets of time)
